AIR CONDITIONING SERVICES

Each year your air conditioning looses charge meaning it is less effective and efficient when you need it the most. At Spencer's MOT and Service Centre we can service your air conditioning to make sure it is working properly and the best it can be including topping up the refrigerant levels.

It is not just in hot weather when air conditioning is useful. On cold mornings when you are trying to demist your windscreen the air conditioning option can produce dry warm air to rapidly clear your screen.

A car with effective air conditioning is also more fuel efficient. If you car is trying to cool down by pumping out warm air it is a lot more effort for your car meaning more fuel is burnt in the process costing you more to fill up.

Air Con Check

  • Free air con check
    • At Spencer’s MOT and Service Centre we offer a free air con check, looking at your refrigerant levels and ensuring it is working at its best. Should your air con need a top up we can recharge your air con in just 30 mins letting you then go on your (cool) way.

  • Regular checks
    • Whether you use your car’s air con a lot or hardly ever at all, air con gas will continue to permeate through the system over time. An air con service every two years will keep the gas topped up and the system lubricated so you always have a cool blast ready when you need it most.

Air con recharge

  • Air con recharge service
    • Recharging the air conditioning system involves removing all of the existing refrigerant and any traces of moisture from the system and replacing it with fresh refrigerant.

Our trained specialists can check and service a wide range of air conditioning systems, ensuring your refrigerant levels are properly topped up.

We advise booking an appointment in advance to ensure we can accommodate you, so please contact us to schedule your service.

  • Testing the air con system
    • Using an automatic air con servicing machine, two hoses are attached to the air con system under the bonnet – one to the high pressure port, the other to the low pressure port.

Firstly, a pressure test is carried out to find out just how much gas has been lost.

If the test result shows that little or no gas remains in the system, this indicates a more serious issue such as a potential leak and the recharge is stopped.

  • Recharging the system
    • If no faults are found, the machine recovers the old refrigerant and any impurities from the air con unit using a specialist vacuum pump.

Next, fresh gas and lubricant is injected back into the air con system as per the volume and type recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
